KHEDME is built in Lebanon for Lebanese reality — where location, safety, and dignity matter. This page explains, in clear language, how we handle your data and how you stay in control.

Last updated: 27 November 2025

Who We Are

IN SIMPLE TERMS: this explains who is responsible for your data and how to reach us.

This Privacy Policy explains how KHEDME (“KHEDME”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you:

  • Visit our website khedme.org, and/or
  • Use the KHEDME mobile application (the “App”), whether as a Client or a Worker.

We are based in Lebanon and primarily serve users located in Lebanon.

If you have any questions, you can contact us at:

Email: info@khedme.org

Scope Of This Policy

IN SIMPLE TERMS: this covers data we collect directly, automatically, or via service providers.

This Policy applies to personal data we collect:

  • Directly from you (for example, when you create an account or contact us),
  • Automatically when you use our Website or App, and
  • From third parties that support our services (for example, analytics and hosting providers).

By using the Website or App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

Information We Collect

IN SIMPLE TERMS: we collect account details, job information, approximate areas, and technical data needed to run KHEDME.

We collect the following categories of information.

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Email address (if provided)
  • City and general area/neighborhood
  • Preferred language
  • Profile photo (optional)

Worker-specific information

  • Service categories (e.g., cleaning, moving, electrical, plumbing, painting, babysitting, elder care, cooking)
  • Short bio and experience summary
  • Service area (neighborhoods where you work)
  • Availability (calendar slots, working days, time windows)
  • Optional pricing or rates
  • Optional portfolio (photos or descriptions of past work)

Client-specific information

  • Job details (type of service, date/time, special instructions)

Communications and support

  • Messages you send us (email, contact forms, in-app support)
  • Information you provide when reporting a problem, safety issue, or dispute

We do not ask for or store your payment card details for jobs. Payments for jobs are arranged directly between Clients and Workers.

Location Data

KHEDME respects that location in Lebanon is sensitive and private.

We handle location as follows:

Job-scoped location only (Clients)

  • You may choose to share a specific location for a job (for example, your home or office).
  • Location is tied to a particular booking and is visible only to the Worker(s) you book or request.
  • You remain in control of when to share or update this location.

Approximate worker area (Workers)

  • Workers can define the general areas/neighborhoods where they are willing to work.
  • We use this to show relevant Workers to Clients (and not your exact address).
  • We do not continuously track your real-time GPS location in the background.

Automatically Collected Data

When you use the Website or App, we may automatically collect:

  • Device information (device model, operating system, language)
  • Log data (IP address, access times, pages/screens viewed, clicks, error logs)
  • General usage information (how often you use the App, features used, performance metrics)

We may use cookies and similar technologies on the Website, and mobile identifiers in the App, for basic functionality and analytics. See Section 8 (Cookies & similar technologies).

How We Use Your Information

IN SIMPLE TERMS: we use your data to run KHEDME, keep it safe, improve it, and communicate with you.

  • Monitoring for misuse, fraud, or abuse
  • Investigating complaints, disputes, or reported incidents
  • Improving safety features and user protections

Legal Bases (Where Applicable)

IN SIMPLE TERMS: when privacy laws require a legal basis, we rely on contract, legitimate interests, consent, or legal obligations.

Where data protection laws require a legal basis (for example, if our services are accessed from certain jurisdictions), we rely on:

How We Share Information

IN SIMPLE TERMS: we never sell your data, but we do share it when needed to run KHEDME, connect Clients and Workers, and comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal data.

  • Analytics and crash-reporting tools
  • Communication tools (e.g., SMS/email providers)

These providers are bound by contracts requiring them to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.

  • When required by applicable law, court order, or governmental request
  • When necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of KHEDME, our users, or the public, and where permitted by law

Business transfers

If KHEDME is involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, your data may be transferred as part of that deal, subject to applicable law and continued protection.

IN SIMPLE TERMS: we keep your data only as long as needed for KHEDME and the law, then delete or anonymize it.

We keep your personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the KHEDME service
  • Maintain appropriate business records
  • Resolve disputes and handle complaints
  • Meet legal, regulatory, and security obligations

When data is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it.

You may request account deletion, subject to our need to retain certain information for legal or legitimate business reasons (for example, records of completed jobs, fraud prevention).

On khedme.org, we may use:

  • Essential cookies – required for the Website to function (e.g., security, basic navigation).
  • Analytics cookies – to understand how visitors use the Website and improve content and performance.

In the App, we may use:

  • Mobile identifiers and software development kits (SDKs) for analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring.

Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before using cookies or similar technologies for non-essential purposes.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some cookies may affect the Website's functionality.

Security

IN SIMPLE TERMS: we apply reasonable technical and organisational measures, but no system is perfectly secure.

We take the security of your data seriously and implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access.

However, no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, especially given the broader infrastructure challenges in our region. You also play a role in security by:

  • Keeping your login details confidential
  • Using a strong password
  • Informing us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.

Your Rights

IN SIMPLE TERMS: depending on your country, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data.

We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
